Staying Young By Using The Wii Fit

Wii Fit, what a great invention. I’m a Wii Fit user who would like to share my thoughts on this great “game” that everyone can do, young or more mature. You’ll run to the store to get this if you don’t already own it.

The Yoga section of the Wii Fit is great for stretching and getting ready for the more aerobic exercises. You can do just the yoga section if you choose. There are many different poses to choose from and the more you do it, the more poses open up for you.

Hula Hooping? I haven’t done that since I was a child, but with the Wii Fit you can do this and other aerobic exercises in the comfort of your own home. I love the fact that I don’t have to go to the gym in order to get a full 30 minutes of aerobic exercise. If you’re a runner, well they have a task that you will like too.

Strength exercises, this is the section where you will gain that extra strength you need to make all of the other sections work well. It doesn’t require you to use heavy weights but you still feel your muscles working hard to make you stronger.

As we age balance seems to be a problem for many people. With the Balance section of the Wii Fit, you can have fun and not hurt yourself by tripping while walking. This is an issue for some people, but that’s a whole other discussion. You can be a daredevil and walk a tightrope or maneuver down a creek in a huge bubble, how can this exercise when I’m having such a great time?!

Knowing what your “real” body age is an important part of keeping your body fit. This is the age your body is feeling not your actual age. With the Wii Fit body test measuring your BMI (body mass index) and your weight along with your age and a couple of tests, don’t worry these are very easy, your “real” body age is calculated for you.

As an added bonus, after you choose which exercises are your favorites, you can store them in a Favorites file. How convenient to be able to go back to these exercises without going through the whole menu. Wii did it right when they came up with this “game”. I can hardly wait to try out the new Wii Fit Plus with activities for seniors.
